Two longtime eateries on Chicago Drive are shutting their doors temporarily.

According to a Facebook post Grandvilla Restaurants, which includes The Villa and The Dungeon, are closed "until further notice" due to "new restrictions set upon our industry again". The owners say they are "loosing" [sic] money trying to stay open with takeout only.

Recently, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued an order to temporarily halt indoor dining at bars and restaurants to slow the spread of COVID-19. The restrictions went into effect on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. and will remain in effect until December 8, 2020.

According to their Facebook page, GrandVilla restaurants have been in operation for more than 75 years. The Villa, which is upstairs, is a steakhouse with a fresh salad bar. The Dungeon serves Mexican food.

The owners say the decision to close was a difficult and emotional one and they appreciate patrons' love and support.
