The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety made an routine traffic stop that turned into a hat trick of crime for two individuals that were in the car.

According to WOOD TV, Kalamazoo police arrested two people after searching their vehicle during a simple traffic stop that turned up stolen checks, a stolen gun and some drugs.

The vehicle was stopped early Tuesday morning before 1:00 a.m. for a simple traffic violation in Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood close to the intersection of Jackson and Linton streets.

Officers discovered a loaded handgun on the ground next to the passengers door. The firearm that was recovered was listed stolen from Kalamazoo County.

Then for the bonus rounds, officers searched the vehicle and discovered cocaine and methamphetamine.

A 25-year-old Kalamazoo man, who was seating in the front passenger seat, was arrested for possession of a firearm which is a felony. He was also charged with concealing and receiving stolen property and possession of meth.

A 25-year-old Kalamazoo women, who was seated in the backseat of the vehicle, was arrested on a whole slew of charges that included: outstanding warrants, cocaine possession, possession of stolen checks, ID's, bank cards and social security cards.

No word if the driver of the vehicle received any violations. For now, the case is still be investigated.
