The new dog I got my son Evan four months ago is at the vet today to get neutered.

My son loves his dog Jake and I have to admit I love the little rascal myself. I live in the middle of nowhere, so Jake has actually become pretty good company.

Jake has a lot of spirit and is a super smart dog that you can teach just about anything. He is also very attentive to what I do and what my routine is and shows a lot of patience which is not often the case with young dogs.

Normally Jake is pretty reserved and easy going, until...I take him to the vet. It's not that he doesn't like to go to the vet, he actually likes a bit too much.

For a dog, he seems to really like the ladies and the vet I go to, there are a lot of ladies there and he seems to want to meet everyone of them.

There is also the other dogs. Jake has only been around a couple of other dogs for a weekend since Evan and I have gotten him four months ago. He sees the other dogs and wants to make friends and play. Not to mention all the smells of other dogs when he is in the building plus the smell of cats to.

Today when I took him to the vet, he just about jumped over my shoulder before I could get him on the lease to walk him. Now that he has been to the vet a few times, he knows where he's at when he gets there.

Jake has done so well with getting checked out. He is a real trooper when it comes to getting his shots, it doesn't seem to bother him at all. It is usually not that easy to get him to settle down when he gets weighed but that is usually it as far as any trouble with the dog I have at all.

Today is different, since I dropped him off at the vet this morning and he will spend a day there in their care since he is getting neutered. This is my first time getting a dog neutered so I don't know what kind of effect it will have him. I hope it doesn't break his spirit because he's such a good dog.

I will be picking Jake up later today and I wonder, after this visit to the vet, will he be as excited to visit the next time I bring him for a check up? I guess I'll find out in 6 more months.
