Despite Bono being temporarily sidelined thanks to a recent cycling accident in New York, U2 are forging ahead with their media blitz to promote their latest LP.
On Monday for World AIDS Day, U2 put on a surprise concert in New York's Times Square.
Because Bono was unable to perform with the band due to his recovery from a bicycling injury and surgery, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin stood in and handled the singing duties.
Bono, the lead singer of U2, is a very polarizing rock star. Most either hate him or love him, and few people are undecided. However, many are relieved that Bono is still alive after a scare he experienced while on a plane.

U2 are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 1991 album Achtung Baby in a big way. A documentary film, entitled From The Sky Down, was released earlier this year chronicling the making of Achtung Baby. The obligatory special releases will also hit stores next week. After a year delay due to Bono having back surgery, U2 brought their 360 Tour to Spartan Stadium in East Lansing Sunday night (June 26).
