It was a huge event on September 18, 1981. Former Presidents, foreign leaders, and many celebrities were here for the dedication of the Ford Presidential Museum.
Wow, what a mixture of activities this weekend. We have everything from an exhibit in honor of First Lady Betty Ford to the Grand Rapids Heart Ball. We have music and comedy. There is boxing and hockey. It’s the final weekend to get your taxes done. There is a Motorcycle Swap Meet and a Petting Zoo. There is also a Home and Lifestyle Show.

They served as first ladies at The White House in back-to-back terms in the 1970s.
Today, Carter, the wife of former President Jimmy Carter, is in Grand Rapids in honor of the 96th birthday of the late Ford, the spouse of former President Gerald Ford.
