Spring turkey season is rolling, and you still have time to bag a bird. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has a special license you don't have to apply for.

Things you will need to hunt turkey are a 12-gauge or 20-gauge shotgun with a turkey choke tube, turkey loads, a hen, and a gobble call. a couple of decoys (a jake and a hen or two), and I highly recommend a turkey blind. You don't need a blind, but it is much easier to hunt in a blind when you are a beginner because turkeys' vision is excellent. If you know where birds roost and don't want to spend money, grab your gun and a turkey call.

Many Michigan hunters think you need to apply for a turkey permit to get a license, and this is partially correct. Yes, to get the early hunt on private land or to hunt certain areas or hunts, you need to apply for a tag.
