Sunday night, as thousands of people in South Haven prepared to enjoy the fireworks in celebration of Independence Day, the South Haven Police Department were forced to close the city's popular North Beach due to violence.

Police say that multiple fights broke out on the beach, those fights led to a large incident which ultimately caused the evacuation.

The South Haven Police Department had to call in reinforcements from The Michigan State Police, The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pokagon Tribal Police to help.

Multiple people were arrested, though police have not specified how many.
