A winning Powerball ticket has gone unclaimed in Michigan and the $1 million prize has now instead gone to the School Aid Fund.

The Michigan Lottery's website shows that the ticket was purchased on September 25, 2017 at a Marathon gas station in Ionia. Residents have one year from the "draw date" to claim their money and that came and passed on Thursday, the 27th.

The Detroit Free Press says that in July a prize of almost $520K also went unclaimed. The record high that someone missed out on was $34M (!!) in 1998. The ticket was bought in East Lansing so one can only assume that this crazy person was drunk and forgot...?

Let this be a reminder to check your lotto tickets!
