Grandville’s Rivertown Crossings Set To Get A Trampoline Park
For many years, Rivertown Crossings was the premiere mall in West Michigan. It used to be the place to go if you wanted to hang out with your friends and just wander (I spent too many hours bouncing between Barnes and Noble and Hot Topic).
However, many of the biggest retailers that used to call the mall home have either closed or shut down, like Sears and Younkers.
But now one of these previous anchors' former space has been bought for $2 million and is set to become a massive trampoline park.
Rivertown Crossings
A staple of Grandville, the mall has been home to many brands like Celebration Cinema, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenny, Kohl's, and Macy's since the early 2000s. In recent years, malls across America have taken a downturn, especially since COVID-19. If you've walked around Rivertown lately, it's hard not to notice how many empty outlets there are.
Younker's two-story property has sat empty since 2018 but was bought in 2022 and will now be home to Soar N Bounce, who signed a 10-year lease. Johnathon Bryant, the owner of the 75,000-square-foot Younkers space, told MLive in an interview that Soar N Bounce chose Rivertown Crossings because they see potential in the area,
They could see that the mall needed some help. So, we offered them a pretty good deal to go into the mall space … more of a partnership than a typical landlord-type relationship.
Soar N Bounce will face competition in the area from another trampoline park, Rebounderz, in Jenison, only four miles away from Rivertown Crossings. Rebounderz opened in 2016 and has a square footage of 54,000.
Personally, I would love to see Rivertown see a bit of a revival. It's been great watching Woodland Mall on 28th St get overhauled in recent years and turned into "the place to be" instead of Rivertown, but having a place like Soar N Bounce invest in Rivertown Crossings could help drive families back to Grandville.
