Slipknot's Jay Weinberg recently shared his thoughts on climate change. Regarding global warming, he called the temperature increase "undeniable" and urged viewers to do their part in countering the trend.

Asked for his thoughts on climate change in light of the 2019 Amazon rainforest wildfires — a series of thousands of strong fires centered on Brazil that are currently causing global alarm, as reported by The New York Times — the drummer delivered an earnest plea for all Slipknot fans to join the conservationist crusade. Watch his complete video interview shared Monday (Aug. 26) down toward the bottom of this post.

"It's undeniable," Weinberg told Little Punk People's Elliott Fullam in a talk that covered a wide range of topics. "It's what we as a human species are bringing upon our Earth and our home and the legacy we're leaving behind. It's awful. And it's the reality of the world we're living in. So I think we all need to take some sort of personal investment and do all the things that we can, like just trying to find alternative resources, alternative fuels and stuff. And doing the little things like we can, like recycling."

Global warming is the current heating of the Earth's atmosphere due to human-created emissions. The process has become a main concern among environmentalists with regard to broad climate change experienced throughout the planet's history. According to NASA, scientists "attribute the global warming trend observed since the mid-20th century to the human expansion of the 'greenhouse effect' — warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space."

Weinberg continued, "It's so easy nowadays to recycle or to compost. That's what I do at home. There are a lot of resources that people can look into in their local communities and find out how they can do stuff that's just a little drop in the bucket to help out. Global warming is a serious issue. We're experiencing the ramifications every day."

Elsewhere in the chat, the Slipknot member was asked what he would eliminate if he could remove "one bad thing in this world." Seemingly holding recent mass shootings in mind, he responded thusly:

"I'm really over seeing so much senseless violence in the world," Weinberg replied. "We've always had it as a human race. But seeing such an ugly underbelly — at least in the country that we live in — it'll get you down a lot. It gets me down a lot. So I'd like to see a lot less of that."

Slipknot's sixth album We Are Not Your Kind came out earlier this month. The band are currently touring the States on the Knotfest Roadshow along with Volbeat, Behemoth and Gojira before they head Down Under with Metallica later this year. Get your tickets here.
