Sevendust Animosity Album

The third studio album from Sevendust is Animosity. The album came out November 13, 2001, back when they were on TVT Records. The album went gold on March 11, 2002.

There were actually five variations of the album released. Two U.S. versions had 13 tracks each. One version is censored and the other with explicit lyrics. As the album built more traction another censored version was released in the U.S. that contained two bonus tracks and another explicit version was released with one bonus track.

The Chinese version of the album contained fifteen tracks.

Animosity Singles

The first single from Animosity was Praise which landed at #15 on the mainstream rock chart.

Angels Son was the second single. There was a very special meaning behind the song since it was a tribute to the late Snot singer Lynn Strait who unfortunately died in a car accident on December 11, 1998, at the age of 30.

The first version of Angels Son was originally released on the tribute album to Lynn Strait titled Strait Up. Strait Up featured a variety of artists paying tribute to Lynn.

There are actually two versions of Angels Son video. Snot member Sony Mayo who eventually joined Sevendust for a period while guitarist Clint Lowery was temporarily out of Sevendust performed in the original video.

In this video other band members of Coal Chamber, Incubus, Kittie, Korn, Sugar Ray, System of a Down, and others gathered around the campfire in the video. Strait's mother was also in the video that you can see below.

The third single from Animosity was Live Again the produced a very powerful video.

Xmas Day was the fourth single from Animosity that featured guitarist Clint Lowery and singer Lajon Witherspoon sharing lead vocals. This is one of my all-time favorites from Sevendust.
