Rock on the Range Releases Statement in Memory of Chris Cornell

Chris Cornell's passing late last night has sent ripples through the music world. Everyone who his music has touched is feeling the impact of his death. Soundgarden was scheduled to play Rock on the Range in Columbus this weekend. Rock on the Range organizers issued a statement this morning in tribute to Chris.

We are devastated to hear about the sudden passing of Chris Cornell last night. He was a true hero to music, the voice of a generation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the entire music community. The voice of an angel, now watching down on us as we celebrate and honor him all weekend long.

Chris Cornell died late last night, after Soundgarden's concertante the Fox Theatre in Detroit. They were scheduled to play at Rock on the Range this weekend. They were also working on new music.

Later in the morning, ROTR released another statement via Facebook, stating that they will reveal more details about the the festival's performances in light of Cornell's passing.
