Everyone has experienced a little road rage at some point or another when behind the wheel of a vehicle. Most people never act on their emotions but that is not the case for a pair of motorists in Grand Rapids.

According to WOOD TV, a road rage incident on Thursday evening on Burton Street between Plymouth Avenue and Breton Road, left a man pinned in a vehicle and a woman thrown from the vehicle. Then the vehicle caught on fire.

Grand Rapids Police Department Sgt. Phil Nevins was told by witnesses the two vehicles were racing down Plymouth Avenue. When the vehicles turned onto Burton, the SUV lost control and crashed into a tree then caught fire.

A good Samaritan helped the the pinned driver out of the car before the fire got worse. The female passenger was thrown from the vehicle.

The driver and passenger were both hospitalized. No word on the extent of their injuries.

The second vehicle left the scene of the accident. Police have not yet given a description of the second vehicle but are reportedly searching for it.
