Rammstein Express Support for Ukraine Amid ‘Shocking Attack’ by Russian Government

Rammstein have joined the ranks of high-profile artists who are expressing support for Ukraine amid the invasion of the country by the Russian army, as ordered by President Vladimir Putin.

The invasion of Ukraine began on the morning of Feb. 24 as Russian forces used military aggression along the country's eastern border and have been gradually pushing toward the capital city of Kyiv. The occupiers have been met with heavy resistance from both the Ukranian armed forces and local civilians as the death toll continues to rise on both sides, though official tallies have not yet been declared.

A total of 141 countries voted to denounce the militaristic attacks by the Russian government at a United Nations General Assembly on March 2, which was the vast majority of the assembly's 193 members. It was urged that Russia "immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces."

In a trilingual statement issued on social media, Rammstein supported Ukrainian resistance and lamented the hardships felt by citizens of both Russia and Ukraine as a result of the actions taken by Putin and the Russian government at large.

We acknowledge the desperation that many Russian fans may feel when faced with the actions of their government, and we want to remember the humanity shared by both Russian and Ukrainian citizens.
