You Can Now Bottle The Smell Of Michigan’s Great Outdoors

If there's one thing about Michiganders, it's that they are a proud bunch. Yoopers, especially, rank up there with Texans when it comes to state pride. I believe this comes with a uniquely shaped state that is fit for merchandising. If I had a dollar for every bumper sticker with the Michigan mitten holding something, I'd be rich (we've all seen the one of the mitten holding a gun).

But embracing Michigan has always been a very visual experience. If you go to Sleeping Bear Dunes, you can take a photo, but you can't take the smell of the lakeshore with you...until now. Pure Michigan has created a new set of fragrances for each season of the year, allowing you to bring the smells of Michigan with you anywhere.

Pure Michigan x Aroma Labs "FRESH" Fragrance

Pure Michigan, Michigan's tourism brand, and Aroma Labs, a Kalamazoo fragrance blending boutique with locations in around Michigan, Illinois, and Tennessee that allows you to create custom fragrances, have collaborated to create a scent that captures the wonder of Michigan's natural beauty in a bottle, available to spray whenever and wherever you want.

Dubbed "FRESH", the scent reportedly captures "freshwater coastline, wineries, lavender fields, and laughter." It is a multi-functional 4-oz spray designed for use on linen, to spruce up your rooms, or for use on your body. While I can't say what "laughter" smells like, the rest is pretty appealing to me.

Pure Michigan and Aroma Labs have already announced a partnership to create fragrances for Michigan's other three seasons: 'HARVEST' in the fall, 'FIRST SNOW' in the winter, and 'AWAKENING' in the spring.

So, How Does It Smell?

I visited the Aroma Labs location in Downtown Grand Rapids to give the fragrance a sniff of my own. I'm pleased to report that the spray has a very pleasant smell. It is a light scent that would be great for spraying on your sheets or to freshen up a room.

I don't wear body spray, so I don't think I'm fit to give an opinion on that usage. Overall, I'm a fan of the collaboration so far and look forward to the autumn spray. The summer fragrance is available now.
