Pronto Pup Pulls The Plug On Grand Rapids Location After Three Weeks
If it feels like the Pronto Pup brick-and-mortar spot in Grand Rapids just opened—well, that's because it did. Unfortunately, the new venture is already coming to an end.

While Pronto Pups—similar to corn dogs, but made with a slightly different batter—have been a longtime favorite in West Michigan, the recently launched Grand Rapids location didn’t get the traction its owner had hoped for.

Unlike the stand in Grand Haven, the Grand Rapids Pronto Pup is a separate operation run by Andy Bogart, who started his Pronto Pup business back in 2020. Over the past few years, you've probably seen his food truck around town at local festivals and events.
Grand Rapids' Pronto Pup Storefront Was Short-Lived
Then in March, he announced a new chapter: a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Operating out of Franca’s Pizzeria on Wealthy St. as a ghost kitchen, the storefront officially opened May 8. Guests could order up Pronto Pups during lunch hours, while Franca’s continued to offer pizza in the evenings.
Now, just a few weeks later, Bogart says the storefront’s final day will be Saturday, May 31.
What Went Wrong With Pronto Pup’s GR Location?
In a candid Facebook post on May 30, he shared the difficult news, citing low sales and scheduling conflicts with their other operations:
This post doesn’t come easy to write at all! After a lot of discussion and consideration we are closing the GR Storefront down on Wealthy Street for a lot of reasons but mainly for 2 reasons. We just aren’t seeing the sales and value for having a B&M [brick and mortar] like for instance yesterday we did $13 all day. We can’t operate at night without effecting our food truck operations and Francas’ operations. When I started this venture just 5 years ago we’ve tried the whole B&M thing in several different ways, we tried to be creative and it’s failed. It’s not easy admitting your failures but this is one of them and we are sorry it didn’t work out the way we had planned or thought. The food trucks are a way better option and when we are out doing public or private events we have a captured audience for us.
Pronto Pup Fans, Don’t Worry
The silver lining? Pronto Pup’s food trucks will continue to roll through Grand Rapids and beyond.
