Plan Ahead: West Michigan Fairs and Festivals August 16-31

It is the final couple of weeks of summer, but that doesn't mean things are slowing down when it comes to fair and festivals in the West Michigan area. In the next two weeks, we have almost 20 different events happening before the end of summer.

American Quilter’s Society Quilt Week

Wednesday, August 17-Saturday, August 20, 2022 - DeVos Place Convention Center, Grand Rapids, MI
Join the American Quilter’s Society for a week of quilts! Take quilt classes, enjoy lectures, and shop fabrics, notions and more at the Vendor Merchant Mall. You’ll be inspired as you explore beautiful quilts, from award-winning and semi-finalist contest quilts to special exhibits. Michigan Fiber Festival

Wednesday, August 17-Sunday, August 21, 2022 - Allegan County Fairgrounds, Allegan, MI
Here’s a festival I bet most people have never been to…The Michigan Fiber Festival! It is Michigan’s largest sheep and wool festival. Danish Festival

Wednesday, August 17-Saturday, August 20, 2022 - Greenville, MI
The 2022 Danish Festival theme is: "Sankt Hans Aften" - Celebration of Summer. Some of the events for the kids include the Danish Dandies, a coloring contest, a Lego building contest, a drive-in movie, a fairy tale parade, and the Hans Christian Andersen Park. Events for everyone include an open air breakfast, the Danish Dash, the Marketplace and Food Court, and the Artisan Fair and Boutique. Breakaway Music Festival

It's another two day music festival at Belknap Park. This month the Breakaway Music Festival returns to Grand Rapids.

Middleville Heritage Days

Thursday, August 18-Saturday, August 20, 2022 - Middleville, MI

Tie Dye Festival

Grand Rapids Yassou! Greek Cultural Festival

Art On The Riverfront

Arts and Drafts Festival

Saturday, August 20, 2022 - Ross Park, Norton Shores, MI
The schedule includes the 45th edition of the traditional Art Fair, plus the annual Arts & Dash 5K, the Arts & Wheels Car Show, and a children’s activity area. Arts & Drafts also hosts a beverage tent featuring live music throughout the afternoon and evening. The Grand City Show Skiers will perform a water ski show on Mona Lake during the Arts and Drafts Festival. Prepare to be entertained with jump stunts, water ballet, human pyramids on skis, barefoot skiing, and more! Suds on the Shore Craft Beer and Wine Festival

Saturday, August 20, 2022 - Downtown Ludington, MI
Suds on the Shore is held in Downtown Ludington from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 pm featuring breweries showcasing their signature craft beer, wine, mead and cider. Hudsonville Community Fair

Turtle Lake Resort Music Fest

28th Street Metro Cruise

Friday, August 26-Saturday, August 27, 2022 - Rogers Plaza in Wyoming, MI and Woodland Mall in Kentwood, MI
"Where the cars are the stars!” It is 13 miles of cool cars along 28th Street. The "Main Event" sites of Metro Cruise at Rogers Plaza in Wyoming and Woodland Mall in Kentwood, will feature 28 food trucks and concessionaires, 12 live bands, free shuttle service, Miss Metro Cruise Finale show, kid's events and activities, safety demonstrations including simulators, Metro-Merch official merchandise, a Dyno car testing platform, Community Awards Ceremony, 35 sponsor booths with giveaways and games, and more. Summer Dance Festival

Friday, August 26-Saturday, August 27, 2022 - Peter Martin Wege Theatre, Grand Rapids, MI
The Grand Rapids Ballet celebrates 50 years of lifting the human spirit through the art of dance. They are hosting a free, outdoor Summer Dance Festival. Grand Rapids Ballet welcomes West Michigan to enjoy two evenings of world-class dance, tasty food, and beer tents all under the evening skies outside of the Peter Martin Wege Theatre. The free festivities kick off at 5 p.m. each evening. Bring your own chair so you can sit back and enjoy an evening of outdoor performance. Polish Heritage Festival

Thousands of people turn out each year for this three-day celebration of Polish food, music and culture. Hastings Summerfest

The Hastings Summerfest is an annual summer festival held in Downtown Hastings by the Barry County Chamber of Commerce Summerfest Committee. The event features arts & crafts vendors on the courthouse lawn, concessions, free trolley rides, children’s activities, a softball tournament, 3-on-3 basketball, 10K/5K run, weight lifting contest, parade, car show, live entertainment and a refreshment tent. Backyard Burgers and Brews Festival

Burning Foot Beer Festival

Saturday, August 27, 2022 - Pere Marquette Beach, Muskegon, MI
The beach will ignite for the 7th Annual​ Burning Foot Beer Festival. Serving as Michigan’s only barefoot beer festival on the beach, festival-goers can enjoy some of the finest craft beer found in the Great Lakes region, revel in local art and food, groove to local and national music acts, and take in the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan. The music line up this year includes the Plain White Ts, Everlast, Lit, Passafire, and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. Saranac Bridgefest
