Metallica are celebrating 30 years of metal dominance this week with a string of shows exclusively for fan club members. The guest list is expected to include an impressive lineup of rock icons, including Ozzy Osbourne and Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister.

Metallica will play the first of four intimate shows tonight (December 5) at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The other shows are December 7, 9 and 10 and will feature different set lists and guests each night.

Metallica's James Hetfield was on the Pulse of Radio (via BLABBERMOUTH) describing what was in store for fans to celebrate their milestone.

"It is a fan celebration — everyone who's come along the Metallica ride for 30 years — and we're constantly wanting to give to the fans what they don't normally get from some other band or some other connection," he said. "So these four shows at the Fillmore are something like that."

Metallica will head back into the studio to work on the follow-up to their 2008 album Death Magnetic. This comes after the recent release of Lulu, the infamous collaboration with former Velvet Underground member Lou Reed. Lulu has suffered from harsh reviews and poor album sales.
