Michigan Landmarks Locals Say They Took For Granted

As Joni Mitchell famously said, "You don't know what you got til it's gone.", and for many of us, that comes in many forms. Maybe it's a song or show we thought was ridiculous as kids, but now we find ourselves showing it to our kids with a new perspective.

For others, it's places or landmarks that they might have taken for granted. That doesn't necessarily include moving away and missing something; it can be something you still pass every day and just didn't realize was special.

For me, the obvious answer is, and always will be, having Lake Michigan and beaches so close to me. Having these massive bodies of water so close and easily accessible is second nature to me, and doesn't hit me how uncommon it is until i visit my friends in the South.
