An officer had a unexpected ride early Wednesday morning after a suspect he pulled over drove away with him attached to the vehicle.

According to WOOD TV, Allegan County authorities are on the hunt for a suspect who put an officer's life at risk by driving away while the officer was hanging on to the suspects vehicle.

The incident started as traffic stop that escalated around 3:30 a.m. on US-131 right near the Allegan County and Kalamazoo County lines.

According to reports, the suspect got out of the vehicle then decided to run back and take off. The offer hung on to the side of the vehicle trying to stop the driver as he drove away. The officer fortunately only received minor injuries.

Authorities are canvasing the area near the intersection of 16th Street and 102nd Avenue in Ostego Township on the look out for a black man, 6 feet tall, in his early 20s.

A vehicle description has not been released at this time.
