New Women’s Professional Sports Team Is Coming To Grand Rapids
Van Andel Arena is already home to the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Grand Rapids Gold, and soon a new women's professional team.
A New Pro Team Coming to Van Andel Arena
Van Andel Arena is no stranger to hosting big events like concerts, monster truck events, WWE wrestling, AHL Hockey with the Grand Rapids Griffins, NBA G League with the Grand Rapids Griffins, and now a team will emerge in 2024 and call Van Andel it's home.
There has been a lot of talk about a new soccer team coming to Grand Rapids but that is not happening yet, and Van Andel isn't big enough for a regulation soccer field but there is a sport that will fit into the arena.
Pro Volleyball Federation
Women's professional volleyball will be coming to Grand Rapids Van Andel Arena in February of 2024. This will be a great opportunity for the sport of volleyball to enhance to a new level. Almost every high school and college in Michigan has a volleyball program and now its young stars have even more to shoot for.
No official team name has been announced but Grand Rapids will have the first official team for the Pro Volleyball Federation. No other cities or venues have been released but seeing how volleyball is huge in the Midwest, I wouldn't be surprised about other announcements coming soon.
According to FOX 17, DP Fox Sports & Entertainment who is also the parent company for the Grand Rapids Griffins is the one who announced the Pro Volleyball Federation's first market to be Grand Rapids.
The Pro Volleyball Federation picked a great city to launch its first team. This is a great opportunity for women volleyball players and the sport. Timing is everything so we will see in 2024 if the PVF is right.
