New MSU Football Coach Dumps Old Team’s Gear at Goodwill
When the new Michigan State football coach was hired, it didn't take him long to dump his old team's gear at the local Goodwill.
Ex-Oregon State Football Coach
Are those the eyes of a crazed "Beaver?" Pretty much.
Ex-Oregon State football coach Jonathan Smith not only coached the Beavers but was once their quarterback from 1998-2001. Smith started all 4 years he attended Oregon State University and even won the MVP award at the Fiesta Bowl.
Smith landed the head coach gig from his alma mater in 2018. He and the Beavers had a rough start with a record of 2-10 but after 5 years of leading the team, they finished the 2022 season with an impressive record of 10-3. Although Oregon State had a record of 8-4 for 2023 he still managed to land a new job after 6 seasons and will start the 2024 season as head coach of the Michigan State Spartans.
Ex-Oregon Football Coach Dumps Gear Off at Goodwill after Taking MSU Job
You would think that a head coach of his former alma mater would save a few pieces of gear for sentimental value, or at least move from the state before dumping off all his logoed coaching gear at Goodwill, but that is exactly what Smith did.
According to Brobible, a Snapchat group named "Oregon State 2026" discovered a post on X by Beavs Fanatic that showed Smith had dropped off all his Beaver wear to a Goodwill in Corvallis, Oregon.
According to the BroBible Facebook page, Beaver fans seemed okay with the donation.
Who knows, maybe Johnathan Smith is a thrift shopper and might get lucky and find former Michigan State Coach Mel Tucker's old gear at a Goodwill in Lansing. If he does, he may want to have it dry-cleaned.
