Looking for a Christmas gift for a loved one who's moved away and is missing Grand Rapids? Or maybe since you haven't been able to visit a ton of places in person this year, this could be a way for the kids to virtually "tour" the city. Or perhaps you'd like to color in the scenes of GR yourself! Coloring for adults has become more of a thing during the pandemic -- they say it's great for stress relief! Well, there's a new coloring book featuring 25 iconic Grand Rapids locations.

"Color GR" includes different businesses and landmarks around town, including the Blue Bridge, Rosa Parks Circle, La Grande Vitesse, Founders and the original Meijer location.

According to Grand Rapids Magazine, local artist David Kranker spent time in quarantine taking photos of the city and looking through old photos and then drawing them.

Kranker says he moved to Grand Rapids 12 years ago from Chicago and fell in love with the city:

Color GR is a Grand Rapids coloring book for those with a love for Furniture City, Beer City, or River City (whichever name you prefer). I moved here two years ago from Chicago and immediately fell in love with the incredible architecture, beautiful nature trails, friendly people, and vibrant culture. I am proud to call Grand Rapids my permanent home and have spent the last year capturing photos of the wonderful landscape. I’ve transformed photos of local scenery into a full coloring book with over 25 pages to color.

You can use the coloring book to give iconic GR attractions your own spin. You’ll be able to color the Blue Bridge, La Grande Vitesse, Rosa Parks Circle, Founders Brewing, and more. The book is a fun activity for rainy days, nights in, or lazy weekends. Coloring can be a great way to spend a date night, or spend time with family. And, if you’re going to color, you might as well color the greatest city in the United States.

You can see more of the coloring book here, which is on sale now for $14.99. Check out Color GR on Facebook, where they're featuring pages folks have colored and sent in!
