Many rock acts had reason to celebrate after Sunday night's (February 13) Grammy Awards.  Muse, supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, Green Day, and others picked up trophies during the ceremony.

Muse won "Best Rock Album" for The Resistance, beating out Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Jeff Beck, and Neil Young.  Them Crooked Vultures nabbed the "Best Hard Rock Performance" trophy over Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Ozzy Osbourne, and Soundgarden for their single "New Fang".  Iron Maiden took home the "Best Metal Performance" Grammy for "El Dorado", fending off competition from Korn, Lamb of God, Slayer, and Megadeth.

The Black Keys won big, winning 3 out of the 5 categories they were nominated for, including "Best Alternative Music Album".  Not too bad for the Akron, OH band as it was their first time being nominated.

The big surprise of the night was Montreal indie rockers Arcade Fire, who won the prestigious "Album of the Year" for The Suburbs.  I was not expecting that.  Arcade Fire's tweet sums it up well:

"OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. Thank you EVERYONE."
