Popular Trail In Michigan Closed Until Further Notice After Trail Collapse
Michigan is home to 5 national parks around the state, with 2 of those deemed as National Lakeshores. One of those National Lakeshores, Pictured Rocks in Munising, is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations, with the Munising Falls waterfall just one of the must-see stops before you make your way to the famed Arch.
For the foreseeable future, however, nobody will be making the trip to see the falls after over 75 feet of paved trails and a bridge have been washed away due to the winter storms and heavy rainfall.
Munising Falls, Munising
A short walk from the parking lot, you'll find a paved trail leading to a beautiful waterfall known as Munising Falls. The trail offers two views of the waterfall, one requiring you to go up stairs for an aerial view and one without stairs. It is one of many waterfalls you can see while visiting Pictured Rocks.
Munising Park Trail Destroyed
It's a beautiful waterfall, but sadly, a combination of heavy rainfall and a heavy winter has led to parts of the 800-foot path sustaining water damage, forcing the park to close the trail for the foreseeable future.

A map detailing the areas of the park affected by the closure is available on the National Park Service's website. The destruction of the path comes right as the tourist season tends to ramp up.
More Pictured Rocks Trail Construction
Unrelated to the weather conditions, another bridge in the park is currently undergoing reconstruction. Miners Beach is only accessible by the North County National Scenic Trail while the Miners Beach River is being rebuilt. The bridge is expected to be closed until Memorial Day.
