The over-the-top antics of Mötley Crüe's Final Tour have been commemorated with a behind-the-scenes video featuring new interviews with members of the band.

Drummer Tommy Lee shares his point of view regarding the rationale behind the bigger, badder "Crüecifly" drum set he whipped up for this tour, explaining, "The premise was, 'We have to make this the most f---ing insane thing that's ever happened and no one will ever be able to pull this off. I've always, throughout the years, tried to come up with something new and different and entertaining. When people walk away, you want them to go 'Dude, I can't believe what I just saw. That was insane.'"

And as fans are well aware, Lee isn't alone in the band in terms of unforgettable special effects. Bassist Nikki Sixx, whose instrument does double duty as a flamethrower during the group's Final Tour gigs, adds that "the band has always been obsessed with fire" and recalls a time early on when Lee and singer Vince Neil "figured out how to light my boots on fire."

All that extra work on the stage presentation is part of what sets Mötley Crüe apart from their peers, but as Sixx goes on to argue, it isn't all about stunts and pyrotechnics: "We don't know how to do it any other way, but it's almost always trying to find an edge. We were always trying to push it. But at the core, if you strip it all away, we're actually a really good band. And that, I'm really proud of. And the other stuff is, we're broken and demented and we want to push the envelope."
