Michigan has joined many other states after the release of the "MI COVID Alert" app to help trace COVID-19 outbreaks.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has worked with SpringML, Google, and Apple to develop a COVID-19 contact tracing app for Michiganders.  The app uses Bluetooth signals to communicate with other nearby devices that also have the app to determine if you have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

If someone using the app tests positive, the MDHHS will provide them with a validation key to use in the app.  They can upload their test results to a database using that key and then anytime they come within approximately 6ft. of someone for longer than 15 minutes, that person is alerted to possible exposure.

Download the app on your iPhone or Android device.

The "MI COVID Alert" has multiple features including an 'Exposure' section which tells you the last time it checked for exposures and gives you a list of any possible past exposures, a virtual MDHHS, and a page for uploading your own positive results.
