Pet Rules for Michigan State Parks

No matter what dog-friendly beach you're going to, all parks have ground rules you must follow or risk removal. Some spots have their own posted rules, so it is important to check beforehand, but these are the rules for pets in state parks as deemed by the State of Michigan.

  • Pets must stay on a 6-foot leash and under owner control.
  • Clean up after your pet! Don't make your dog's waste someone else's problem.
  • Dogs must remain under supervision the entire time they are on the property.
  • Keep pets away from wildlife.
  • Pets are not allowed in state buildings unless explicitly stated.
