Detroit's Father Forgive Me Makes Top 100 Bars in North America

Now in its fifth year, North America's 50 Best Bars was launched to celebrate the continent as a top-tier cocktail destination. The rankings are based on votes from around 300 industry experts, including bartenders, bar owners, and insiders who know their stuff.

The full awards ceremony is happening in Vancouver on April 22, but the 2026 list is already out.

Coming in at No. 83 is Father Forgive Me in Detroit.

Not bad for a bar that just opened last year!

It's part of Detroit’s “Little Village,” tucked inside the former garage of The Shepherd, a historic church that’s been transformed into a massive arts and community space. Father Forgive Me turns that garage into a cozy, design-forward hangout with creative cocktails, a curated wine list, and a laid-back indoor-outdoor vibe. It's owned by the hospitality group known for other popular Detroit venues like The Skip and Standby.

What was once a church garage has become one of Detroit's most buzzy cocktail and wine bars. Opened in mid-2025 in Detroit's rejuvenated East Village, Father Forgive Me offers a robust cocktail programme devised by local stalwart bartenders that is best enjoyed on its surplus of al fresco tables.

In addition to hand-crafted drinks, you'll find snacks, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. The seasonal menu includes items like duck breast, Wagyu tartare, bean tartine, shrimp cocktail, smoked trout, braised beats, and scallop carpaccio.
