At times he would transport a prisoner from one facility to another. Most of the time it was problem-free but once a prisoner tried to make a run for it.

My buddy was taking a prisoner from one Upper Peninsula prison to another and on a bathroom break, the guy tried to get away. My buddy and his partner quickly tackled the bad guy and got him back in the vehicle. It's hard to run in shackles or this may have turned out differently.

A prisoner from Mecosta County was being transported to a Michigan Department of Corrections facility that he would make a run for it from a moving vehicle. Whatever he did to get prison time was his first mistake, his second was jumping out of a moving vehicle.

When you hear about prison escapes it's usually someone going over a wall or through a tunnel prisoners dug. I have heard of guards being in on the escape or a prisoner hiding in a laundry bin but jumping out of a moving vehicle is a first for me.

According to Fox 17, the prisoner somehow got the back door to open and jumped out around 7:40 Thursday morning while the vehicle was moving and it may cost him his life. The prisoner suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in the hospital.

No word on how the prisoner got the door open but it's currently under investigation.
