A few years ago my son was 9 years old and my nephew is currently that age. These two boys bring nothing but joy to my life and my family. I find it hard to believe anyone could hurt their child let alone murder them and bury them in the backyard like nothing happened.

In early January, construction workers were renovating a rental home when they discovered a shallow grave behind a garage in Detroit. The landlord notified the police and when they arrived saw the partially buried remains of a 9-year-old boy.

According to WXYZ, Wayne County prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said, "It's alleged that she purchased a shovel, she bound him by tying his hands and feet together, and dug a hole in the back of the house." Authorities say the cause of death was from smothering and neck compression.

41-year-old Brandee Pierce has been charged with first-degree murder among other charges.

Investigators determined Pierce allegedly killed 9-year-old Zemar in October of 2024. She fled to Georgia with her 3-year-old son and is currently in jail waiting to be extradited to Michigan.
