Metallica and Wolverine are partnering to help out workforce training in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Metallica and Wolverine are no stranger to working together in giving back to the community right here in Grand Rapids, because just a few years ago they both donated to Grand Rapids Community College.

According to WOOD, Wolverine Worldwide that is based out of Rockford, Michigan, and are working with Metallica to donate $100,000 to Grand Rapids Community College and that is some exciting news for welding trainees.

This money is being set aside for GRCC's welding program for nontraditional students. I am personally affected by this since my oldest son just graduated and was in a welding program and is now enrolled in the GRCC program.

Metallica has their own charity called ALL Within My Hands Foundation and they raise money all year long to distribute to a wide variety of charities all across America and around the world. It is nice to see piece of it land right here in Grand Rapids.

Wolverine is another that gives back to communities nationwide, starting right here in Grand Rapids at the GRCC and at Lone Star Community College north of Houston and Wichita State's Technology School in Kansas. The last two schools mentioned are dividing their donations for a variety of skilled trade positions, medical, IT and other technical programs which many are a core to American infrastructure.

Wolverine is also stepping up in donating boots and clothes that are tough for these kinds of training and will go to every student who's a part of the program.

On a quick side note, but according to Loudwire.com Metallica and Wolverine have designed a couple boots with a limited edition line of 1000 Mile Axel and Hellcat UltraSpringTM boots now available for pre-order. These boot orders will also help fund trade school scholarships.

Metallica donate to colleges in cities where they have performed in the past few years. Here's how the band see's it, you buy tickets to come see them, you buy their records and t-shirts and then they say thank you by giving back to your community by making donations for our next generation workforce...now that is full circle in my book.

This new donation from Metallica and Wolverine will now make sure a third class will get an intensive program with small class sizes for students to stay focused, flexible scheduling for those who have jobs and most importantly job preparation.

This is good stuff and my oldest boy, Isaak, says thanks to Metallica and Wolverine, as do I.
