Last week Walmart announced they'd no longer carry ammunition for handguns and also asked customers to no longer openly carry firearms into their stores.  By the end of last week, Kroger, CVS, and Wegmans along with others had joined in requesting customers no longer open carry firearms in their stores for the safety of their customers.

Well as of today, you can add Meijer to the list of retailers asking you to leave the gun at home.

@Meijer tweeted out Monday afternoon,

The safety of our customers and team members is our top priority, so we respectfully request that our customers do not open carry firearms at Meijer. We’ve made this decision because open carry can create an environment that makes our customers and team members feel unsafe.

The comments on Twitter have been back and forth, but mostly positive.  It is worth noting, that Meijer and Wegman's statement isn't quite as strong as CVS' statement which included the wording,

" ...requesting that our customers, other than authorized law enforcement personnel, do not bring firearms into our stores."
