Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio Not Happy with Jim Harbaugh Question at Cotton Bowl Media Day [Video]
Michigan StateUniversity Head Football Coach Mark Dantonio has never been one to mince words.
That much was on display Tuesday at Cotton Bowl media day festivities.
Asked by WLNS TV 6's Kevin Gehl about Michigan's hiring of Jim Harbaugh, Dantonio didn't flinch.
"This is about Michigan State," Dantonio said. "This is about the Cotton Bowl, and we're going to stay right there."
The No. 8 Spartans are preparing for their clash with high-powered Baylor. The Bears, ranked eighth, just missed out on the inaugural College Football Playoff and figure to be a great test for Michigan State's defense.
And further, Baylor presents an opportunity for Dantonio's Spartans to add another impressive trophy to their mantle, just a year after bringing home Big Ten and Rose Bowl championships.
That's why Dantonio, who has a 6-2 record versus Michigan, was put off by the question about his new Big Ten Conference coaching colleague.
His response was classic Dantonio, reminiscent of his answer to a sideline reporter's question about the mood of Notre Dame just before kickoff in South Bend in 2007.
It wasn't quite as angry as his reaction to Michigan's stake planting at Spartan Stadium this season, though.
For the record, Harbaugh spoke about Michigan State at his introductory news conference in Ann Arbor on Tuesday. He wouldn't make any guarantees as to how Michigan will fare against the Spartans or Ohio State.
"They're outstanding programs. I make no guarantees," Harbaugh said.
