Major Changes Made to Comerica Park for Tigers Baseball Season

Detroit Tigers baseball is back, but if you are heading to a game at Comerica Park, you will notice two significant changes.

Detroit Tigers Opening Day

The Detroit Tigers gave fans an exciting end to the 2024 season, getting into the playoffs as a Wild Card against the Houston Astros, where they won both games.

The Tigers moved on in the playoffs to take on the Cleveland Guardians. The Tigers were up 2 games to 1 in the series, but ultimately the Guardians won the final 2 games. The Tigers gave the fans an exciting end to the season and invoked hope of an even better 2025.

This season's opening day for the Tigers is against the 2024 World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, at Dodger Stadium on March 27th at 4:10 p.m.

The Tigers' first six games of the season will be on the road. The first home game at Comerica Park will be against the Chicago White Sox on April 4th at 1:10 p.m. If you plan on attending the Tigers' home opener, you will notice two significant changes to Comerica Park.

Changes Made to Comerica Park for Tigers' 2025 Baseball Season

I have yet to see a Tigers game at Comerica Park, but I did see Green Day there last summer, and that is where I got the photo of the scoreboard.  It's Comerica Park's 25th anniversary, and now the sponsor logo resides where the cursive Tigers logo was on the scoreboard.

Comerica Park was the last Major League Baseball stadium to have the dirt pathway between home plate and the pitcher's mound. The dirt has been replaced with grass, just like all the other MLB stadium fields. It was Tiger's players who requested the field change.

When you attend a Tigers game at Comerica Park this season, a couple of things will be different, but the spirit of baseball in Detroit has not changed. Enjoy a hot dog, a beer, and some great Tigers baseball. GO TIGERS!
