Have You Heard of the M22 Challenge?
If you love running, biking, and kayaking, you can take on Northern Michigan’s ultimate endurance event, the M22 Challenge at Sleeping Bear Dunes.
What is the M22 Challenge?
The M22 Challenge is a one-of-a-kind run-bike-paddle event set in the stunning Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Voted "The Most Beautiful Place in America," the breathtaking scenery combined with the spirit of fellow participants makes this an unforgettable experience.
The M22 Challenge is a triathlon-with-a-twist endurance race that was launched back in 2009, and has become one of the most popular events in Northern Michigan.
The M22 Challenge includes a 2.5-mile run on M-109 into the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Runners have to climb a 100 yard sand dune, then run across the top, then back down the infamous sand dune back to M-109.
There is a 17-mile scenic bike route takes riders into downtown Glen Arbor and along the Crystal River. Riders will continue on the edge of Big Glen Lake to Inspiration Point.
There is a paddle course set up on Little Glen Lake that is 2.5-miles long. Athletes can choose from using a surfski, kayak or SUP for this portion of the challenge. The athletes dismount just before they hit the shore to sprint for the finish line.
