Lions Legend Barry Sanders Sends Message & Jersey to NFL Star

Former Detroit Lions Legend Barry Sanders is a class act on and off the field and recently he sent a heartfelt message and jersey to a current NFL star.

Before becoming a Detroit Lion, Barry Sanders was the running back for Oklahoma State. As a junior in 1988, he had what is considered the greatest individual season by a running back in college football history, rushing for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns in 11 games. Pretty easy choice for the Heisman Trophy.

The Barry Sanders statue was unveiled at Oklahoma State University on November 13, 2021.

The Lions drafted Sanders in 1989. He went on to win the NFL offensive Rookie of the year award in his first season. Sanders helped the Lions with their first playoff game in 1991 and their first since 1958. He was selected to a Pro Bowl in each of his 10 seasons with the Lions.

Sanders unexpectedly retired in 1999 at the age of 31. No matter if he was on the field or off he was a class act to his team, his coaches, and most importantly to all others who came in contact with him.

Barry Sanders Sends Message & Jersey to Current NFL Star

Barry Sanders has been a hero and mentor to so many up and coming athletes for many years and that's why it doesn't surprise me that he recently reached out to a current player with some heartfelt words and gesture.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had a rough start to his season but he has put the team in the position to be in the Super Bowl. Sanders was so moved by Barkley's efforts and talent he sent him an autographed jersey with a message the said. "To Saquon. I love the fact that you showed everyone how valuable your really are." I don't care who you are that it huge.
