Linkin Park's tour cancellation is not good news for Grand Rapids, since they've cancelled the rest of the tour through February 14th, and we won't get to see them here at the Van Andel. Their shows begin again in May.

But Chester injuring his leg, and forcing the cancellation of the shows reminded me of some shows I saw back in 1992, when Alice in Chains was opening for Ozzy on the No More Tours tour, and Layne was in a wheelchair!

I went to the show, and Sepultura opened up with an amazing set, and I distinctly remember loving "Dead Embryonic Cells" from their show. It was my initiation into listening to Sepultura.

Then Alice in Chains took the stage, and Layne was wheeling himself around in a wheelchair, with a big cast on his leg. He'd broken it, but continued to tour, and his voice sounded freaking amazing! If I remember correctly, he stood up on it for short bits with crutches during the set, but did a lot of wheeling himself around and singing.

Layne was a beast, man. Great show. Watch an entire set above and enjoy!

And for fun, here's the music video for "Dead Embryonic Cells". Love this song.
