Last season, the USA Ice Fishing National Championship was held in Lakeview, Michigan, and it has become the permanent home for the event.
Lakeview residents proved to be gracious hosts of the USA Ice Fishing Championship. Tamarack Lake typically offers excellent ice conditions and a diverse fish population, making it an ideal location for a championship that attracts anglers from around the globe.
The USA Ice Fishing National Championship
The USA Ice Fishing National Championship is the national qualifier for the World Ice Fishing Championship, a prestigious international event that selects the top 10 anglers for the U.S. national team.
The event is a competition for national teams, where teams compete in a catch-and-release format for the lowest point score based on their zone placements. All fish caught go back in the water after being weighed.

Lakeview Named New Host of U.S.A. Ice Fishing National Championship
According to FOX 17, USA Ice Fishing has partnered with the village of Lakeview, Michigan, to make it the permanent home for the U.S. Ice Fishing National Championship starting in 2026.
2024 was such a huge success in Lakeview; it was a no-brainer for USA Ice Fishing and the village to create a long-lasting partnership.
The 2026 USA Ice Fishing National Championship will be held February 19-22, 2026, on Lake Tamarack. A notable aspect of this tournament is the inclusion of educational programs for children and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. The event concludes on Sunday with the final competition and an award ceremony.
