Michigan Part Of Massive Milk Recall – Check Your Fridge
I am just one of many who are lactose intolerant but can't bring myself to abandon milk entirely, so I've tried nearly every milk alternative on the market to find the one that best imitates the dairy I love so much.
This new recall from one of the leading lactose-free dairy brands is so concerning because Michigan is one of 27 states affected by this recall. It's time to check your fridge.
Lactaid Milk
Lactaid, one of the leading lactose-free dairy alternatives, is widely used because it helps people who usually can't consume milk without, well, unfortunate side effects. The milk "uses a lactase enzyme to break down the lactose from farm-fresh dairy milk into sugars that are easier to digest". Other dairy alternatives include almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.
Lactaid Recall
Lactaid has submitted a voluntary recall of five different 96oz containers because the product "may contain trace amounts of almond, which is not listed on the label". This could be considered life-threatening for someone with an almond allergy.
