Kum & Go Michigan Locations Sold To Casey’s, Third Owner In 2 Years

It's been an interesting saga for the Kum & Go locations scattered throughout West Michigan. Things got off to a peculiar start when the company announced it was finally moving into Michigan at the end of 2023.

However, as construction of these gas stations began, Kum & Go was acquired by another gas station giant, Maverik. Maverik subsequently announced the Kum & Go brand would be retired, and all current locations would be remodeled to Maverik stores.

The first Maverik location was opened on 54th St and Clyde Park in 2024 (which we really liked in our review), with the other recently completed Kum & Go locations expected to be remodeled soon into Maverik stores.

However, it turns out that this will not be happening, as these locations are being sold to another gas station chain once again, marking the third owner of these gas stations in just under two years.

It's time to get familiar with Casey's. 

Casey's Michigan Expansion

According to a report by C-Store Dive, Casey's General Stores has entered into a deal with Maverik to acquire all eight Maverik-owned convenience stores in Michigan. In fact, the keys have already been handed over to Casey's, as they have reportedly been running the gas stations since last week. This is confirmed on both Casey's site and Google Maps.

If you're familiar with the type of warm food Kum & Go and Maverik sell, then Casey's won't be a significant change for you. Like the other two brands, Casey's offers warm, freshly prepared food, including pizza (which is also available for delivery), wings, sandwiches, and more, in addition to the usual gas station offerings.

Unlike Maverik, it appears Casey's is already making quick work of remodeling the Kum & Go and Maverik stores to feature Casey's name branding. It is currently unknown if your Maverik rewards points will be accepted at Casey's.
