Kiss To Play Their Final Michigan Show At Little Caesars Arena Detroit
The band who wrote "Detroit Rock City" will play their final Detroit show at Little Caesars Arena.
Kiss Alive I
It was the album Kiss Alive I that was recorded in Detroit at Cobo Hall in May of 1975 that got me into the band. As a kid, I have listened to that record more times than any other record I own.
What I didn't know as a kid was, Kiss actually recorded shows in Detroit, Cleveland, Iowa, and New Jersey to make up the Kiss Alive I album but because the photos on the cover were all at Cobo Hall I didn't know any better.
Kiss Connection to Michigan
Kiss is from New York City but it was Michigan, in particular Detroit, that the band really caught on first. In 1975, Kiss was not playing all big arenas all over the country but for some reason in Detroit, they had no problem selling out Cobo Hall.
After the Kiss Alive I album, the band recorded its biggest studio album Destroyer which featured the song Detroit Rock City. Detroit Rock City has been an anthem for the band and Michigan ever since it came out in 1976. It's only fitting that Kiss bring their End of the Road Tour back to Detroit one last time since it's the city that put this band from New York City on the map.
Kiss Bring the End of the Road World Tour to Detroit One Last Time
Kiss announced they will be coming to Detroit's Little Caesars Arena on Friday, October 20th. The general public sale will be Friday, April 7th at 10 am. Much like all their shows if you are a Kiss Army member there will be a pre-sale to get first dibs on tickets. Check Kiss's website for those details.
