Phone scam alert!

Kentwood police say residents have been getting calls from someone claiming to be from department. The scammer tells the person on the line they've got a warrant for their arrest and asks them to go to the bank to get money.

Apparently, the caller is spoofing the numbers, making the calls appear to be coming from Kentwood PD.

The department says these calls are fraudulent. They will not call and request money in this manner if a person has a warrant.

Kentwood Police are investigating and say they will pursue criminal charges for the people behind the calls.

If you get a call like this, do not give out any personal information. Kentwood say you should hang up and report the call to them at 616.698.6580.
