Kent County Wants To Buy Cannonsburg Ski Area But Funding Is Denied
Kent County wants to purchase Cannonsburg Ski Area to help expand the parks division but funding from the state has been denied.
Cannonsburg Ski Area
Cannonsburg Ski Area is located in Kent County just north of Grand Rapids. Cannonsburg is the closest ski and snowboarding location to the Grand Rapids Metro.
Cannonsburg is one of my son's favorite winter destinations. He and I get out at least once or twice every year for some tubing.
One of the things my son and I like to do when we are riding up for our next tubing run is watch the snowboarders on the adjacent hill. Every now and then we see some pretty cool tricks. Who knows, he and I may get the courage one day to make a rundown on the snowboards.
Over the years of heading out to Cannonsburg, my son and I see more and more people riding the fat tire bikes on the trails in and around the ski area. I have to say, riding a bike in and on the snow is some real dedication to biking.
Regardless of who owns Cannonsburg Ski Area, I highly recommend them as a fun place to spend time with family in the winter months. Cannonsburg has a little something for everybody from the kids all the way to the grandparents and everyone in between.
Kent County Wants to Buy Cannonsburg Ski Area But Has Been Denied Funding
To be honest, I didn't know Cannonsburg Ski Area was up for sale, not that I could afford to purchase it or anything but word on the street is that the ski area has not gotten any offers or was in any financial trouble.
WOOD reported that Kent County has been denied the $5 million proposal that was made to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund to help purchase Cannonsburg Ski Area.
