Jolly Pumpkin Permanently Closes in Grand Rapids, New Restaurant Set to Move In

Sad news for fans of Jolly Pumpkin on Bridge St. in Grand Rapids - but there is a silver lining!

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, which is the first all wild, oak-aged brewery in the United States, was founded in Dexter, Michigan in 2004. Five years later, Jolly Pumpkin opened in Traverse City. Since then, multiple locations have opened throughout the state - but Jolly Pumpkin Grand Rapids is no longer.

Jolly Pumpkin first opened at 428 Bridge St. NW. in 2018. Known for its sour beers, the restaurant also served up artisan pizzas, soups, sandwiches, and salads. If you've driven by recently, you may have noticed the location appears closed - it is.

WZZM-13 reports that Jolly Pumpkin Grand Rapids is permanently closed. The good news is that a new restaurant will be replacing it!

Mission Restaurant Group, which operates Jolly Pumpkin, tells WZMM-13 Pide and Stick will be moving in at that location. Pide and Stick will serve serve pide (Turkish Flatbread), Shwarma, and Kebabs. According to Pide and Stick's website, the Mediterranean restaurant "embraces the bold and eclectic with crave-able, zesty flavors and fresh ingredients." It's listed on Google as opening August 1. In 2023 Jolly Pumpkin shuttered its Royal Oak restaurant, rebranding as Bandit Tavern. According to Fox 2 Detroit, Bandit Tavern is already closed, just months after opening.

Jolly Pumpkin locations remain in Traverse City, East Lansing, Dexter, Detroit, and Ann Arbor.
