Jeffrey Willis’ Murder Trial in Rebekah Bletsch Case Postponed
Jeffrey Willis, the man accused of fatally shooting Rebekah Bletsch in 2014 and abducting and killing Jessica Heeringa in 2013, and for the attempted abduction of a teenage girl in 2016, will not be going to trial as soon as people thought.
Brian Hosticka, Willis' attorney, requested that the trial in the Bletsch case be put on hold so that he could focus on a different case involving Willis - the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa.
Willis was in court on Friday for an evidentiary hearing in the Bletsch case. It was the first time that he had spoken publicly since his arrest in connection with the attempted abduction of a 16-year-old girl.
That girl, who is being lauded as a hero, was able to lead police to Willis. Police later connected a gun owned by Willis to Bletsch's murder.
