Jane's Addiction have found a replacement for former Guns N' Roses member and current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagen: TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek.

Sitek will fill in on bass and contribute to the writing on Jane's Addiction's first album since 2003's Strays.  McKagen joined the band last April when founding Jane's bassist Eric Avery quit the group.  However, the honeymoon didn't last long as McKagen and the band split, citing "creative differences" as the reason for his departure.

I admit, I'm a little surprised of Perry Farrell and company's choice.  While I sort of dig TV On The Radio, they have a significantly different sound than Jane's Addiction.  Not surprising since they're from completely opposite coasts.

Sitek has also done production duties for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Massive Attack.  This might be the difference factor that Jane's needs to freshen up their sound.  The untitled album, which is being produced by Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse) is scheduled to be released this summer.
