Sodas that are sold in Michigan are being recalled because of potential health risks.

Why?

The drinks have ingredients that can come with health threats to Michiganders.

Have you heard of the Charles Boggini Company?

The sodas that Charles Boggini Company produces are affected by this recall. The recall includes 28 gallons of Pink Lemonade, 2,723 gallons of the Cola Flavoring Base, 112 gallons of Yellow Lemonade, and Yellow Lemonade X.

Charles Boggini Company sodas were distributed to Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois, Nevada, and California.

At the end of March 2024, the three recalls were launched, however, they were classified by their health hazard level on June 3rd.

The Charles Boggini pink lemonade and cola flavoring base were classified as Class II health hazards, while both yellow lemonades are classified as Class III.

Newsweek states that Class II is when the "use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

Class III is given when "use of, or exposure to, a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences."

The reason for the recall is because of undeclared things being in the sodas. The pink lemonade contained undeclared FD&C Red No.40, the cola contained undeclared sulfites, while both yellow lemonades contained undeclared FD&C Yellow No. 5.
