New Kia Recall Targets 2023-2025 Models—What Michigan Owners Need To Know
KIA owners cannot catch a break!
With the KIA boys' spree dying down, a new recall has been announced that will have Michigan drivers frantically checking their vehicles.

KIA Recall Affects Thousand Of Michigan Drivers
Kia America has announced a recall of over 80,000 vehicles across the United States and in Michigan.
The recall is due to a potential safety hazard involving damaged floor wiring beneath the front passenger seat.
This issue could prevent airbags and seat belts from deploying properly during a crash. Additionally, the damaged wiring might trigger the side curtain airbags to deploy unintentionally, posing a serious safety risk.
The recall, affecting 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid models, impacts vehicles equipped with manual front passenger seats manufactured between August 10, 2022, and December 13, 2024.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), frequent adjustments to the front passenger seat could damage the wiring, affecting critical safety features like airbag deployment and seat belt functionality.
Fortunately, there is some good news with this recall. There have been no crashes, injuries, or fatalities have been reported as of January 10, 2025.
What Should You Do If You Have A Recalled KIA?
To address the issue, Kia dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles, replace or reroute the wiring assembly as needed, and install protective covers to prevent future damage.
Thankfully, these repairs will be performed free of charge. Owners of recalled vehicles can expect notification letters from Kia in March, urging them to bring their cars to the nearest dealership for inspection and repairs.
This recall follows a November 2024 recall of over 208,000 Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles due to a separate safety concern involving charging control units.
Michigan drivers who own a 2023-2025 Kia Niro, Niro EV, or Niro PHEV should take this recall seriously to ensure their safety on the road.
For more information, Michigan Kia owners can contact their local dealership or visit the NHTSA’s website to check if their vehicle is affected.
Don’t wait—your safety is the priority!
