As more snowy temperatures are in our near future in Grand Rapids, it made me take a stroll down the snow-filled memory lane.

Grand Rapids' Coldest Recorded Day

According to WZZM, in January 2024, West Michigan experienced the coldest air in three years.

However, according to Current Results, the coldest Grand Rapids has ever seen was on Valentine's Day in 1899. The temperature that day reached -24 degrees Fahrenheit.

Besides Grand Rapids, Michigan also has its own recorded coldest day that will blow your mind (literally!).

Business Insider shared that Michigan's lowest recorded temperature was -51 degrees in Vanderbilt! Insane, right?

"There are only 11 states with colder recorded temperatures than Michigan: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming."
